"Sex Education" is a story written by Nancy Kress that explores the idea of human embryonic cloning. The story focuses on a young girl, named Mollie, who discovers her embryos have been cloned and sold by her parents. When Mollie learns about the baby recently "delivered" to a new family, she sets out to find the baby and the truth about herself.
Students have been asked to respond to the following questions surrounding the story and this controversial issue. 1. Should we be able to cloning human beings? Why or why not? (PROS/CONS) 2. What are some of the moral/ethical objections to stem cell research and cloning? 3. How does Mollie's story serve to highlight the issue of morality? 4. If we are continuing to advance scientifically and technologically, what are the cautions we must consider? 5. How would these issues affect how we perceive identity?
